Riding the train
So I sat in the exact same seat this morning as I did yesterday. You have to love taking the 5:45am train. It's virtually empty, so you're guaranteed a seat, it's relatively quiet (by MNR and NYC standards), and the chances of getting coffee spilled on your are far less than one would experience at 7:34 or 7:44.
Which got me to thinking. I have a 75 minute commute one-way on a regular day, and I probably complain less about commuting than anyone I know. I like being able to sit there and fall asleep, or play video games, or read a book, or enjoy a frosty cold beer (on the way home, only). But there are some commuting things that would not be so bad. People complain about the length of a driving commute, but how could they? You're in your own car, listening to whatever music you want, you've got A/C (not to be underestimated), you can pull off the road whenever you want to go get a nice hot meal or a coffee, and you don't have to pray that some fat ass hootchie with a 60-inch ass isn't going to try and squeeze in next to you in a two-person seat when you get to Fordham. Hell, car seats give you massages these days, go figure.
